Manbir Singh

Biography

Manbir Singh was first introduced to Gurbani Kirtan early by his grandfather, Bhai Prem Singh, who taught him Shabad Reets before enrolling him into the Gandharv Mahavidyalaya in Delhi, where he studied tabla. After moving to Sydney at a young age, Manbir started learning kirtan under Giani Gurdev Singh before coming under the tutelage of Bhai Harjit Singh Delhi (student of Bhai Santa Singh Ji Delhi).

Manbir’s more rigorous Classical vocal training began with Ustaad Mazhar and Jawad Ali Khan (grandsons of Ustaad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan), who initiated him as a Ganda-Band Shagird. He also spent time learning from Baldev S. Narang before studying under the tutelage of Pt. Shantanu Bhattacharyya.
